EMPLOYMENT!

I’m a waiter at the Blue Train (a trendy, young cafe on the 16th Street like Southbank Promenade). They gave me a trial on Saturday (running drinks mainly), and asked me back to do a floor shift on Sunday. They liked my work, and gave me some permanent shifts:

Thursday dinner
Friday dinner
Sunday lunch.

Crazy! I’m excited and scared still, but feeling more confident.

Other things - have been hanging out with Ariel’s circus friends since her going away party (where and when I met most of them). They’re warm and welcoming, and very skilled. google for << “NICA” circus >> and you’ll hit it.

Now, it’s time to look for housing. Huttah!

The Extra Cool Juice guy is becoming evasive, but I’ll pin him and make him say yes or no. I’ve been pursuing other leads, too. I have a trial at the Blue Train Cafe on the river’s trendy Southbank. I’ll be running drinks for the Saturday lunch.

A lot of places are saying they can’t hire until Jan, which sucks for me. In Jan, I’ll only be in Oz for another 6 weeks - a much-too-short time to work. If that’s the case, I’ll just burn thru savings, I guess, but I’ll go down in a great heap of fire and it will be grand.

Ariel’s going away party is tomorrow night. I’ll be the only person to attend both of her going away parties (remember Jan 2003 when she left the US?). Much debauchery will take place. It will be another barrier-breaking step with Ariel - I haven’t ever drunk with her, or her friends.
